Definitely sounds like bedbugs. I've got an infestation in my new apartment, as well. Like you, I had bites all over, except it took me 5 weeks to find out the cause of them. One day, I found my cat
staring at a tiny whitish larvae with a brown tip crawling across my bed...couldn't see legs...and I turned my mattress over & found a few small bedbugs, very tiny, oval, reddish brown bugs. Turns out I have a LOT more than a "few" of these. It has nothing to do with cleanliness. These bugs get carried in by people who visit foreign countries where insecticides haven't eliminated these disgusting bugs.

Check all around your bed, mattress, floorboards, and try to get a sample bug in a pill bottle...bring this problem to the attention of your landlord IMMEDIATELY. It is his/her responsibility to hire an exterminator right away, not at your expense, either...

I wish I had better news. These bugs are extremely difficult to get rid of. Be sure to launder all of your clothes in the hottest water possible. Heat will kill the bugs. Where do you live, by the way?

: I have recently moved into a new apartment (not new really about 200 years old) in Edinburgh a month ago. Over the last week or so I have been itching a lot lately on arms, legs and ankles and have noticed some little red bumps. I am sleeping on a sofa bed that came with my furnished flat. I was thinking perhaps it was infested with bedbugs - but I can't see anything - dried blood or otherwise on sheets or mattress. I am a very clean person... shower daily, vacuum and change sheets weekly, etc. And I haven't lived here long enough to accumulate old food in cupboards, etc. (food is obviously kept in a separate room anyway from where I sleep). Well after another itchy night, I got up this morning and when going to make the bed, noticed something on my bottom sheet. Upon closer inspection it was a live maggot or larvae tiny little worm disgusting thing! It was very small (thin grain of rice size)off-white, with a brown head and light brown line extending down it's body. No legs that I could see, but then again it was quite tiny. What the heck is this? Why/how is it in my bed? What do I do? I ripped all the bedclothes off immediately and am washing them in hot water. I did not see any others in the sheets, mattress pad or mattress... Does anyone know what this is and/or have any suggestions about what this could be or what to do about it? I am completely freaked out and am too embarrassed to go to my landlord about it. Have you ever heard of such a thing? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
