tiny brown flying insect

These small brown bugs are around our computer, seem to gravitate toward light and warmth, but none in the kitchen or around food. They don't bite, not too quick so easy to kill with the tip of your finger. They fly, they walk around...just annoying when they land on me or in my hair. In the San Diego area on the beach (right now we are under heavy ash cloud), we've had them about a month, never had them in the past 7 years we've been here.
