its amazing...i live in NJ and have experienced exactly the same bites. I've noticed while i've been gardening, especially when i am sweating, that the gnats and other flying bugs swarm around and i usually get bit. I have been bit a total of 7 times this summer. I have experienced the same symptoms- intense itch, intense heat, silver dollar size and yellow head all usually a day later. My doctor has yet to find what it is- she thinks it may just be an alllergic reaction that i've developed to mosquitoes- but unfortunately a neighbor has received the same symptoms from a bite as well as my dad on a recent visit to our home.
I dont think its a tick(dont fly) or bed bug(need a bed) or spider(only crawl) - needless to say i am only commiserating - tho' i can tell you cold compacts, alcohol rubs, and 2 benedryls do help.
ps- if you have found any info out -pls share - i too am at my wits end (and a little concerned...)
