CENTIPEDS IN MY HOUSE! HELP

Please tell me where these awful creepy crawly centipeds are coming from. I just moved into this house that was totally vacant for 5 months it was even painted and has new carpets it's very clean and it is full of these huge centipeds that run all over at night including on us while we are sleeping. Last night was the worst my husband killed three in the middle of the night in our bed. My house is clean why do they want to live with us? They are up to an inch long and they run very fast. They are light brown or tan in color. Please tell me how to get rid of them. I tried bug spray and that only chases them of their hiding places and into our living area's! I even see them in the daytime, they are always in my dirty clothes hamper and under anything damp. They are taking over my house. Also do they bite or sting they look scary.
