flys/Finished basement/garage

We went away for 3 nights came home to my basement full of flys, my kids bedroom is down there, we killed a lot of them, but the next day there were more, then I went out to my attached garage and there were tons of flys. Whats going on and how can I stop this.
PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!
