: Hi, : I recently moved to France to study abroad, and have noticed I have new bites every morning. The bites have not woke me up, even though I am a light sleeper. How do I get rid of these pests, and how come I can't see them?! Names of medicines and insect sprays are different here in France, so do you know what they might be called? : Thanks alot, : Itching in France Dear Itching in France, I had the same problem. I bought a mattress from some friends of ours to put in our room at home. The mattress had been sitting in their garage for a while so they had no knowledge that it was infested with bed bugs. I was 8 months pregnant and waking up every morning with what looked like spider bites (red, round, itchy elevation of the skin and most of the time there would be a cluster of them in any one certain spot). Come to find out, they were bed bugs and although my husband slept with me, he never got a single bite (this I think may have been because my blood had so many nutrients in it from being pregnant). I had to go out and buy a brand new mattress and have an exterminator come and spray our house. We haven't had a problem since. Grateful they're gone
