i live in a converted garage (but no wood in sight--all white plaster walls now) that doesn't have a kitchen. however, in a carpeted corner area, i have a full-size refrigerator, a small trash can and some rolling shelf racks in the closet next to it that is my "pantry". i am careful not to keep any food open or exposed and not to put much in the trash can that has food on it so not to draw ants or roaches. however, i have seen several very tiny light brown bugs with a round head and then a longer body. they're a little bigger than mites. i can't distinguish any legs or antenna from quick observation. i spent five hours yesterday wiping down everything, washing all my dishes (i don't have cabinets so everything's there), and throwing out anything remotely food-like--most food there is canned or boxed anyway or in the refrigerator. then i vacuumed the floors underneath. i only put my rolling racks back w/o everything on it (except the microwave) and already this morning i saw one, on the middle shelf, where i first discovered them. it could be a stray? but i thoroughly wiped down the trash can inside and out last night, and a half-hour later found two on it. however, in the last month, i have probably seen a total of 25? i had four old baskets on that shelf where i first saw them and i threw them out. but i found them in ceramic stuff and in the twist-ties and paper "case" the lightbulbs come in. maybe they're not after food at all...
