brown bug with grasshopper legs but not a grasshopper

my boyfriend has bugs pop up in his house once in awhile that look like little light brown alien crickets....big long jumping hind legs, six legged as far as we can tell, and jump far and fast if you move near them. their bodies look a little bit like a daddy long legs with very tiny front legs compared to the big cricket type back legs.....please email me if you know what it is ....
