Many people are sensitive to allergens in the environment, which may be why you are the only one feeling any symptoms. You should consult a dermitologist or your physician. Fleas are very visible and you can feel them on your skin when they land and move about. A thorough vacuuming or professional steam cleaning will remove most fleas if they are present. It will also remove many allergens. Consult your local University extension or public health entomologist to determine if you have fleas present in the apartment. If there are fleas present, and if you have pets, make sure they are treated by your veteranarian. A flea dust for carpets such as boric acid or silica dioxide powder will help, but should only be used if you confirm fleas are actually present.
