I am haviing the same problem. It seems to happen mostly to my cotton tank tops, but does also go after my clothes of all types of fabric. I have looked closely with a small hand-held microscope and have noticed a few things. It usually starts with a small piece of white lint that won;t come off very easily when I pull it. I have to really get a good grip with my fingernails or tweezers and pll hard. If it stays on the clothing item very long, you can see that the "llnt" is now a little piece of "thread" that has incorporated itself into/onto the fabric. I don't know how else to describe it. It just starts to BECOME the item. After it has been on there for awhile, it looks like a large piece of lint - to the naked eye. If I pull on that, or start picking at it, it will end up a small round hole. If I leave it alone, the small hole eventually appears by itself. It doesn't take too long either. This is making me crazy. I too believe that it must have hitched a ride to California from some far-away country. I also seem to have several "new" pests that other people don't have in their homes. But that is another situation... What can we do? I sure don't have any answers, but would really like some! Please let me know if you learn anything. Sincerely and thanks : Something invisible is making holes in all my favorite cloths. It eats any kind of fabric including synthetics. It seems like it goes for stuff I wear often that probably has some sweat or food or on it. I tried washing everything and put ceder everywhere, but that does not work and the pest companies don't want to treat it if they can't find any signs of animals. I suspect that it started when I bought a fabric from India and left it in my room for a couple of days without washing it. What should I do? Can anyone help me out there?
