: : I am so glad I found this forum. For about a year have been getting bites about 95% at night. They start off like small mosquito bites, but after 24 hours turn to large hives that are unbearingly itchy and uncomfortable and last for 4 days. : : I have never seen anything! I thought originally bed bugs - ripped up my bed- nothing. Called an exterminator - nothing. Have been to two allergists and dermatologist - they don't hava a clue. Have bee to the emergency room twice - again no clue. Have bought new bed, new bedding, changed apartments, washed all my clothes and put in sealed bags - no luck, still get them. Any ideas???? : : Usually get bit on arms or torso, never legs, 3-4 bites about once a week. It doesn't seem to feed everyday. Lately have been loading up on mosquito repellant before bed - that has helped, but sometimes get bit on hands, ears, etc that I don't cover. The only things that I found to help with itching are ice and a steroid cream that my dermatologist injects directly in hive. : : Does this sound vaugely familar to anyone?? If you know anything that might help me I'll be your personal slave! I am not joking - this is ruining my life. Thanks! : Join the yahoo group called birdmitesorg. There you will find a group of people who are suffering from mites. There are different kinds of mites, like scabies mites, sarcoptic mange mites, bird mites, rodent mites. : : Also, what will help you at night, is to purchase a twin sized air mattress. You can clean it each night in the shower and use a different light cover each night. Wash your covers in scalding hot water. : Also, the Topix Scabies forum is very helpful and has tons of things you can do to rid yourself of scabies mites, etc.
