Yarn mites??

: Found some yarn I had stored away several years back, after the recent move I decided to crochet some things with it. Most of it is still in a skein, so I started with the 2 colors I had already wound up into balls back when I got the yarn. Halfway through one of the yarn balls today I was picking at my fingernail & noticed 3 tiny specs moving around on my finger, brownish-reddish I suppose. So tiny I wouldn't have noticed had I not been picking at my fingernails. Then I started inspecting my arms & legs and found several more. I freaked out and threw out the yarn, washed everything around me, then showered. Been researching online since and haven't found any helpful information. I'm not even sure the bugs were from the yarn, just making that assumption. had I not been grossed out I would have taken pics but I wanted to quarantine myself as soon as possible lol. My main concerns are for our cat and any other dangers these little bugs may present. : They were so tiny I couldn't even see any legs, I saw them moving and it was really slow. Hope this info helps, thanks for your time.
