lady bug infestation

Dear E-bug,

My Mom's house has been plagued with lady bugs by the hundreds each fall and winter. They seem to come out of the wood work and we find them everywhere in the house. Could they be nesting in the walls? Is there a way to exterminate them? Please help, my mom is making me nuts about these ladybugs! The bugs are starting to show up again in the past few days.
