It is a cicada killer. We have them in our flower beds and they wont bother you. They look mean and scary, but they are like dirt dobbers. leave them alone and let them go about their business and they wont bother you. Just dont try and catch it with your hands. They are really good for killing spiders and other unwanted vermons. Ide much rather have something buzzing in my flowerbed than something silently crawling up my leg.
