I have what appears to be a giant bee burrowing 2 holes in my yard. The holes are about 3-4 inchaes apart and the diameter is a little bigger than a nickel. The "bee" has removed about 2.5 cups of dirt from the holes.
The "bee" is about 3 inches long and about 3/4 of an inch wide. I have not been able to observe it for very long as will either enter one of the holes or fly off, after it makes a pass around me quickly.
As I am allergic to bee stings so I'm a little apprehensive to get very close but would love to get a picture of this monster.
Any ideas what this is? I've seen pictures of the cicada killers and it looks much larger.
