Could be `drain flies` comming from a leak under the floor. Is ther a crawlspace under the kitchen?
If so, check there.

: For the past week we've been infested with tiny tiny black bugs - the size of a knat and some are a bit bigger with wings. They are crawling over the walls in the kitchen. We aren't sure where they are coming from, but they seem to only come out when it is hot and they are all over the ceiling and falling down.
