invisible bugs / intching / reddish brown bugs?

I've been reading through this forum and have found many posts about people itching from invisible bugs. I am having this problem as well and although i'm not seeing any bites, i'm itching like crazy...My wife has actual bites that at first we thought were bedbugs, but we haven't found any traces of them (exterminator came in to look also).

Besides the invisible bugs, we also have these round, reddish brown bugs behind our couch and on area rug. the exterminator told me they are spider ants, but after searching online, i don't find any pictures of spider ants that look like these. We're not sure if these are biting us or it is a mite problem.

I saw an old post on here where someone said the reddish brown ants were called Liva Meter but i can't find any info on that. Anyone know more?

And to all the people who who have the invisible bug problem, is it predominantly mites or something else?
