Hi,

I appear to have some sort of small black insect/spider thing in my bedroom. I've been scouring the internet for the past hour trying to find something that looks close to it, but I can't. The closest thing I've found is the description written on this web page:

http://en.allexperts.com/q/Entomology-Study-Bugs-665/Little-Bug-Spider-Pincers.htm

I noticed it crawling on the ceiling in my bedroom yesterday morning--the same morning I woke up with a bite on my temple. The bite looks like a large pimple but does not hurt or really even itch. It's still there--just a raised bump. I don't know if it's related to this bug.

It doesn't look like any of the pictures of pseudoscorpions that I've seen (e.g., here: http://www.whatsthatbug.com/pseudoscorpion.html). As mentioned in the description from about.com, the body is slender like a carpenter ant. From what I can tell, the pincers don't really extend out like arms--rather, they are closer to the thing's head and look like they bend vertically rather than horizontally. But they're not quite in the right location to be spider palps, either. Altogether it's about 1/4 to 1/2-inch long. I count only 6 legs, but I don't know if its pincers are legs or what.

I live in West Texas, but I had similar bugs when I lived in an apartment in the Dallas area a few years ago. I seem to recall the same kinds of bites accompanying the sitings, and they were also in my bedroom.

Does anybody know what this is?
