HELP!!! I think it might be bed bugs

This tragedy started about 10 months ago with huge welts at night and severe itchiness in bed. It got really bad and we had a professional exterminator spray for possible bed bugs four times although evidence of bed bugs was never found. We have done our own extermination. We got rid of our carpeting and felt relief for about two months. Then I started feeling small bites a tiny little dot was left on my skin and I would get small rashes. It’s been a month now that we have another severe outbreak I have HUGE welts that cover my entire body. I will get these welts mainly on the bed but I can get them just about anywhere. It is so painful. My husband feels the bugs but does not have an allergic reaction to them. I on the other hand can not go to sleep because not only do I incur the welts but I get asthma. We have never found evidence of any residue or actual bug but the bites are evident in my body and my daughter’s body. Does anyone think it might be bedbugs and they are just great at hiding? I have done a lot of research on bedbugs and followed the instructions of checking mattress, headboard, crack you name it don’t find ANYTHING!!! I am going crazy – I welcome any suggestions.
