My daughter recently discovered tiny, tiny white bugs in her old motorhome. They were the size of a grain of salt. She tried using bleach, bug foggers, sprays, etc. but the bugs kept multiplying. She finally called a local exterminator who informed her that they were mold mites that live off fungus and mold. They take the color of the fungus or mold they are eating. In her case the top of her motorhome continually leaked, which caused the wood to rot which fed the mold mites. Mold mites are almost impossible to eliminate. A better approach is to limit their numbers by eliminating the resources they need to develop -- moldy organic matter and high humidity. Removing moisture, such as disposing of moldy food, fixing leaky pipes, increasing ventilation with fans, using air conditioners, will reduce mold mite populations. The exterminator advised my daughter to dry the rotten wood in her motorhome by using portable heaters and fans to circulate the air. Eliminate the food source, reduce the bugs. Finally something that actually worked. So far, her motorhome is bug free!
