I too live in Mobile, AL and can't stand the geckos. I realize that they are good creatures, but when you open the door to your house and one jumps and lands in your hair and there are two others lurking in the door way, it's time for the geckos to go. I haven't tried the moth balls, but I certainly will, TODAY!

Thank you!

: I will follow your advice, I live in Costa Rica and we have lots of Geckos here, I don't know where they come from, when I was growing up there were no geckos around here and now they are all over all year round. I will try the moth balls for sure. I have tried the sticky mouse traps but those are not effective at all. I'm tired of the gecko droppings all over, first I thought they were mouse droppings but it turned out it was the geckos.

: : I've had a really bad Gecko problem for the past 3 or so years. Haven't a clue where they came from, but they invaded my shed first, and started on the house. I had to remove a wall last spring to fix a pipe, and thousands of tiny eggs, broken, were there in the wall. I almost threw up. That was it, I started researching.

: :
: : Seems you can find NOTHING on the internet, on how to get rid of them, just how many bugs they eat, and how good they are to have around. Well, I for one, wasn't happy with them trying to come inside everytime I opened a door!

: : I hate those things! Anyone who wants them, can certainly come here and trap ALL they want, and LEAVE with them!

: : I'm in Mobile AL and from internet research, I think they are Mediterranean House Gecko.

: : May have been this forum, I saw a postabout Moth Balls, and tried it late last summer. I had my doubts, as they are so cheap to purchase. I put them all around the house, in where I could get on my patio cover, sitting on window sills, chunked about 6 in the attic, 4 in the storage room, anywhere I could sit a moth ball close to the house, there was a moth ball! In the grass up against the house. And it worked! Those scary looking creatures haven't been back, to my home, but they are still close by. My neighbor moved a big brick, and 4 came out! But that was in HIS yard.

: : That was my cue to get the box of moth balls back out. I'm sure now that anyone driving past my house with their windows down can smell them, lol. But I don't care. I can put up with the smell of moth balls a lot better than the geckos.

: : I know now, everytime I see one even close to my yard, its time to get the box back out, and place them every where I can find to place them.

: : I know there is a thread about this on here, and only 1 reply on how to get rid of them, by using moth balls. Everyone else that replied says they are great to have around.

: : I hope if nothing else, this post does help some other person, who is sick of opening their door, and a gecko running in.
