: Howdy,

: there has been a huge forum dealing with these invisible biting mites- which people believe are bird mites-or mites that live in the garden- that's my problem at the moment- so I was checking out stuff on this site- someone has suggested that dropping borax around the infected areas has really helped- others suggested 1/2 vinegar to 1/2 water with 4 table spoons of salt (warm water) helps ( it wasn't as effective as I would have liked- but for others it worked- one person sprayed their garden with it and it helped)- I have washed my clothes and bed sheets etc... at a really high temperature with about two teaspoons of eucalyptus oil (with washing detergent)- which helped my sleeping at night. I've also read spraying with eucalyptus oil & water (25ml E oil- 75ml water)- I just know the Eucalypyus oil really helped with my bed- there were only a few bites here and there but at least I could sleep! I spayed my whole bed with it. But I'm thinking it might need repeated applications. I come from Melbourne in Australia- but I'm sure you can buy eucalyptus oil everywhere. I have yet to try the borax- so fingers cross that will help with the carpet! I have yet to identify these buggers- but I can't see them but they nibble at you mostly at night but I'm finding also during the day. I think they fly too...
: I hope this helps somewhat.

: I don't want to get too ahead of myself here- but I think the borax has really helped- I've sprinkled it on my carpets and bed and furniture- and I don't hardly as many bites- the borax here in Australia you can put in your washing- so I'm washing my contaminated clothes with that and Eucalypyus oil. I've also heard putting clothes in a micro-oven on high for 30 seconds kills the mites (not any longer or the clothes will burn!!!)- freezing your vaccum bag also kills them. I'm hoping I'm on my way to controlling these things- persistance pays off.

THE ONLY THINGS I HAVE FOUND THAT HELP ARE LICE SHAMPOO TO TAKE A BATH IN AND WALMART SELLS AFLEA POWDER CALLED ENFORCER. THE COUNTRY FRESH WORKS BESTON YOUR MATRESS.I USE IT ABOUT EVERY OTHER NIGHT.HELPS KEEP THEM FROM BITEING YOU. I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING THESE THINGS FOR 2 YEARS.NOBODY CAN TELL ME HOW TO GET RID OF THEM.
