Bedbug question

Hello,
I have a question about the bedbugs. I moved out of that apartment in mid-June. I didn't live there full time since January but had some stuff (books, futon and clothes) and those are what I moved in mid-June. In July, my ex-roommate found out that she has bedbugs in the apt. She started getting lots of bites on her body. It's been two months I have seen any sign of the bedbugs or, rashes/welts in my new apt. and on my body. All of sudden, last night, right before I went to bed at around 11:00pm, I realized that I have some bug bites on my leg: one on the right ankle and the other on the right calf. If I hadn't heard about my ex-rommates horror story, I simply would have assumed those are mosquito bites. It was itchy just a bit last night and the swell and the itchiness are almost gone this morning. They don't have a series of small bites, either.

I'm super paranoid that I might have brought something, either the bugs or, the eggs with my luggage to my new apartment. Would it be possible that it took two months for the bedbugs/eggs to be active? I haven't checked my mattress yet but will do tonight after work.

Please let me know what the chances are that I might have brought something with me. Thanks for the answer in advance.
