What can I use on on the carpets I have contact with to kill bird mites?

Are there any pesticides I can use to kill the bird mites that are on the carpet? I will have to sleep on the carpet, so I need a pesticide that will not harm me when I lay down on the carpet later. Ortho Home Defense is only for the baseboards of walls. Also, I need something to spray on my bed to kill the mites on my bed. I read about Kleen Free. Is there anything else safe I can spray on my carpet and bed? I read about something called non residual synergized pyrethrin. Is this stuff suppose to be safe for beds or carpets?
