I hope you have success with your local extension office on the identification of the insect sample you submit. Please post the results. I attempted to obtain sample using clear packing tape on my skin at the site where I feel the bite. I submitted the tape to the Miami Dade Extension Office, however they were not able to provide/obtain an identification, but I am still seeking information from other sources. I have written to several professional, no one so far is familiar with this problem. Most often I have been told to consider a condition called “Delusional Parasitosis”, where a person imagines that they are being bitten and crawled upon by invisible insects.

I suppose anything is possible, however, I think it is highly unlikely. I don’t usually feel this discomfort when I leave my home and car. I have found that insect repellent with “Deet” helps but have I developed sensitivity to it. I now use rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle when the biting becomes intense. I have also found that wiping down with a warm wash cloth helps when I am trying to work on the computer and get itchy. I stopped using insect sprays because it appears to only make the activity worst.

I am looking into purchasing a microscope to search for samples on my own before submitting them to the extension office. I will post whatever information I receive.
