What is this?

I've been reading a few of the posts named "centipedes" and want to be sure it is what we have. My husband and I just moved into a condo and it's been super hot and humid lately. We live on the first floor just above the basement and we've been seeing lots of long bugs with seemingly millions of legs (ugly). Are these centipedes? If I spray anything will it affect my cat? where should I spray, in my condo or in the basement?
