I began spreading a cucumber paste on me in the fall. The crawling and biting stopped immediately and allowed me to sleep. However, it was a daily battle. Now that is is very cold and the humidity has dropped to 40% in my apartment, they seem to be completely GONE. Even with a de-humidifier going all the time I could never get it below 50% in the summer. So...If mites can't stand low humidity, this humidity range would seems to be the answer. ---Alternatively, my car was also a haven and perhaps the cold killed them off. (My apartment is NOT cold, just around 70 degrees F. most of the time.)I do spend about 30 minutes outside in the bitter cold every day so this may also create a prophylactic climate for their proliferation in my clothing.--- I have a terrible immune system but they did not return during a particularly nasty bout of Bronchitis. Are they still "in" me? Don't know but my leg hair has not yet grown back. I face the spring warm up with trepidation and have considered traveling to join the seals and Polar Bears on what is left of the ice pack when the thaw comes to the Northern US.
