I have had the same life-shattering experiences that you did. You have my total sympathy. I wish I could tell you how to conquer mites -- I have been fighting them for years. Had numerous attempts by professional pest control. When you say "fumigated" I assume you mean bombs, not tenting the house. I have found bombs to be useless. Direct spraying over the entire surface of the floor helps, but does not cure. If you are using pyrethrin or pyrethroids, you are wasting your money. Mites eat these substances for dessert. I went away for a month and it did not help at all. I doubt that 2 months would be any different. I suggest that you read the www.safe2use.com bulletin board. There are tips in the archives. Don't expect doctors to know anything, but there is a prescription cream called Eurax that helps treat bites. Also an over the counter called Chiarid sold at Walgreen's. Baking soda helps for bites, bathing, and cleaning. Cleaners with orange oil are good for cleaning. Witch Hazel is good for bites and disinfectiang hard surfaces. Use allergy-barrier matress pad. Replace bedding and pillows periodically. Dry clean clothes or wash with bleach. Hot water and dryers don't help me. If you post any specific problems, I'll try to help. When and where on your body are you being bitten? What state do; you live in? How did the entomologist capture and identify the mite? : My family and I have been living with a northern fowl mite (confirmed by an entomologist)infestation for 4 months now. Terminix has fumigated 4 times and we've used everything from foggers to enzyme cleaners in between. The situation will seem to get better after using the pesticides but only for a little while. Is there anyone who can give me advice? Do you think that if we left our home for 2 months (without bringing any mites with us) that it would solve the situation? I am physically exhausted from all the cleaning, vacuming and laundering. My job, health, social and family life have suffered. I feel that we have done so much to no avail. Is there anyone who has completely conquered this? Thank you very much for your response.
