Little white bugs

We ssem to have some new tennants in the flat of our bedroom. Tiny little white bugs everywhere!! They seem to like dark places and anywhere where there a power source...Batteries inside remote controls seem to be a particular favourite. Anyone know what they are and how to get rid of them? Hoovering them is the only effective method I currently have, though there must be something more permanent???
