: Okay, my husband is skeptical, but we are going to get double sided tape and put it around the bed tonite and see if we can catch a bedbug so we can maybe get closer to the ID (saw that on another site)..also we'll check out the surrounding areas to the bed. Will vacuuming them up help or do we still need to treat with the dust and stuff? : Another site said that I should see a doctor to have them ID my bites...but then it was noted here that you cannot tell by bites. So a bit confusing. : Don't think we have bats in the attic..it's a townhouse and I don't think we even have a real 'attic', but rather just have a space up there with insulation. It's only a 2 year old property. I am just surprised that SUDDENLY we have this problem after a week in FL, but not being bitten there at all. It seems like the data is contradictory. : The really odd thing too is that some of the bites faded 2ce as quickly as the others, aka the one on my hand is pretty much flattened and gone and really didn't itch at all, while the one on my arm gotten the same day is still a bit raised and red. : Thanks again for the continued help... ~~~~~~~~~
Mara you say you live in a townhouse, that means you have adjoining neighbours, do you have common walls? I'm just wondering if your neighbours might have had a problem and that they sprayed. Again just a thought. I was under the impression that you lived in a detached home. You don't need a large attic for bats to roost just some crawl space, so it's not impossible that they might have gotten in somehow new house or not. The double sided tapes will help catch them if that is what is biting you, make sure it is the heavy duty double sided tapes, the stickier the better! Also if you are fairly sure they are not on your bed then buy roach traps the ones you can lay flat and stick them under the posts of your bed(make sure you don't let kids/pets step on them)If the bedbugs are coming from somewhere in the room they will need to climb onto the bedpost to get to you and will get stuck on the glue. Move your bed at least 4 inches away from the wall. Also keep all bed linens and comforters off the floor. If you decide to tape you also have to make sure that you do not sleep with any top sheets or blankets on the bed, or it will just get stuck on the tape. I think once you i.d. the bug you can treat, vacuuming will help but you have to be able to get into cracks and crevices, afterwards discard the vacuum bag and place in garbage right away. Use a new vacuum bag each time. You most certainly can go to a doctor to help i.d. the bite but keep in mind that a lot of the physicians have no idea what a bedbug bite looks like. These bedbugs haven't been around since WW2 and have only lately made a comeback. Good Luck, hope you get to the bottom of this. If you by chance find out what is biting you, Please come back and let the people on this forum know. It's the not knowing that can drive some people nervous wrecks.
