Thanks again for the replies, they really help.
His place is right next to my University, so that's why I stay there. I have started going back home a bit though to sleep in a normal bed.
I didn't think that RAID would work, but if it does, that's probably the easier and safest. I'm going out tomorrow and buying the one you mentioned. I will prevail against them eventually, I'm not going to let some evil bugs ruin my sleep. LOL
