If you want to get something that's easier to get and not as potent (read: potentially dangerous), RAID Ant in the blue bottle has the right chemicals for bed bugs (permethrin and pyrethins) and I've observed it being effective with my own eyes. The residual probably isn't as long, but it's safer to use casually and does work - i.e. wouldn't need a gas mask.

Sleeping in the bathroom? You shouldn't need to do that! You (and maybe he?) can't stay at your place for a couple weeks while this is going on? Seems to me there should be *some* better solution.
