mysterious circular concentration of bug droppings

We've been noticing a large number of insect droppings concentrated in a small neat circular area in our baby's room. The individual droppings are black, shiny, spherical, looking like small poppy seeds and there seem to be a very large number of them (hundreds?). Every day, we clean up the droppings, and every day there's a new circular deposit in the exact same spot. The spot is on the floor in a dark space between the crib and wall.

Any idea what kind of pest this is, and how to get rid of it?
