red ants in kitchen

We have tiny red ants around our kitchen sink and I can't tell where they are coming from. We had the similar problem the last two summers, but we gutted and re-did our entire kitchen and hadn't had the ants since. They showed up this morning, pouring from, it looks like, under the sink, but I don't see anything under the sink...? Where are they coming from and how can I get rid of them???
