getting rid of lizards

i just bought a house in an area that seems to have a healthy population of lizards(geckos)running around. how do i get rid of them? how do i get them from even coming onto my property/yards? i understand if i limit their food supply (bugs,insects,etc.) that would help reduce the number but is there any way at all to prevent them from entering my property entirely? i need help.....
