We never had it so bad that our clothes were noticeably damaged. We lived in an old house in the UK and after I hoovered and sprayed the carpet edges the problem seemed to virtually go. However, we are now temporarily renting a new house which is fully carpeted and looks imacculate, but I have noticed a few of the carpet beetles again! We back into a hill and get a few speders and other bugs, but I reckon these carpet beetles get into carpet at the factory or something! Anyhow, when we move I am having wooden floors throughout and no carpet at all!! Good luck.
