How do you keep waterbugs away?

Every once in a while I would see the occassional waterbug in the upper part of my house. We are currently doing the basement over. When the guys went to move a pipe they said they came across a nest and about 30 waterbugs. Now they said they think they killed them all, but what are the chances of there being other nests around? If so, what put out to get rid of them for good? Also know though that I have a crawling baby.
