Sorry Dee. Afraid there isn't a natural or quick way to get rid of bedbugs. And if you're finding adults in books, you have a serious infestation. Several visits from a professional exterminator, washing and drying everything fabric on hot or drycleaning, spraying everything else once a week with lice bedding spray and living under quarantine for at least a month are the bare minimum steps. Otherwise, you should move. Immediately. After the washing, spraying and quarantining so you don't take them with you. (In most states in the U.S., landlords are responsible for hiring/paying the exterminator.) Bedbugs find you by the carbon dioxide you breathe out. Sleeping in the bathroom will just lead them there, requiring that you exterminate another room. Educate yourself by reading all the posts here. You will likely have to take the lead as most landlords and neighbors and many exterminators don't know how to deal with bedbugs. Good luck.
