Bed bugs are one type of mite, and they are one of the larger ones. If you don't have these, and it doesn't really seem like it, then it could be another type. The bird mites I have been fighting for over two years now behave like you are describing. More active at night, and are very hard to get rid of. You really can't see them, just the crawling sensation on the skin and pinprick bites. I have to wear earplugs to bed at night to keep them out of my ears. I put sulfer cream on my mustache to keep them away from my nose when sleeping. I posted my story here about 2 months ago. There is a whole regime I have to follow: diligent vacuuming, washing clothes, vinyl protectors for the mattress, ad nauesum. I sure don't wish anyone else had to deal with this. Good luck and keep us posted on what works for you. Tim
