Hi Pam, Hope you are having some luck with these things. As you have surmised, the immature ones crawl slowly and you feel them on your skin. The mature bird mite gains an extra pair of legs and seem to almost hop or float in the air. When I first was infested,I could feel them drop down from the ceiling, as well as crawl on me from the floor. They don't fly as such, if you are fighting bird mites. no-see-ums can fly, but they are a bit bigger, and don't crawl on you the way these things do. For the bedroom, every few days use a swifter with a cleaner that contains bleach and wipe down the walls and ceilings real good. I have also started wearing a dog flea collar around my neck, to help keep them away from my mouth at night. Let us know what works for you. I posted my email address if you want to get back in touch with me. I will be glad to provide more info if I can.
