When I bought my house, I found one dead one by the fireplace. I have a terrible phobia of roaches, so I had to get rid of them. I have found something that worked for me. Buy a laundry detergent called "20 Mule Team Borax"--this contains a slight amount of boric acid. Buy a small ear dropper/syringe and unscrew every switch plate in the house. Put a very small amount (maybe the amount of a woman's pinky nail) in the wall, then screw the switch plate back on. I have yet to see one in my house. Also, check for cracks in the walls and caulk them up. Rake leaves and dead foilage and try to create a 6 foot barrier around your house. The 20 mule team borax worked for me, but if all else fails, I have heard (but never tried) that roaches hate the smell of bay leaves. You could try taping some around the place you see them most. Good luck--they are nasty things and hard to get rid of, but keep up the good work! : : Hello all, : : We have had a roach problem for years but lately it's getting worst. We can see some out and about even in the day. We've used baits for quite some time but they have developed resistance to it. If anything it only made them grow more deformed and uglier, but not dead. : : There seems to be a lot of electronic devices that employ ultronic waves to drive pests out. I was wondering if anybody who has used them can comment on their effectiveness, and recommend a good brand? : : Thank you, : : Claire : Electronic devices do not work. Some studies have shown that the roaches have lived inside the boxes. We have Gentrol that you can mix with water and spray to keep the roaches from reproducing. We have Orthene aerosol that will kill the adults. To order click on www.e-bug.net or call 1-800-226-8370. : Sincerely, : Phyllis Teel
