Bedbug question

Okay-
I have a wonderful friend I know has bedbugs in her apartment, which is why she is moving. I was supposed to pick some stuff up from her that she is going to put in a suitcase. Should I even take this stuff from her? It's a hammock, shirts, clothes, etc. Will I be okay if I just wash everything? Should I spray the suitcase and if so, what should I spray it with?
Reading this forum has freaked me out!
