: I also live in CA and have found a few flatworms in my yard. They are apparently native of asia, and eat earthworms, slugs, and each other. They have no predators besides themselves and they reproduce by splitting. Here is where I got all my info on them:
: creatures.ifas.ufl.edu/misc/land_planarians.htm

I too have seen these flat worms appearing in our lawn I live in S. CA I also saw a special on TV about them . Apparently these can be very destructive to your lawn and the earth worm. I'm looking into a natural predator called nematodes. These beneficial nematodes work by entering the pest insect's body, where they release a bacterium that kills the targeted pest. The nematodes then reproduce, and the next generation continues to keep pests in check throughout the season, I however don't know if they will attack the flatworms. I'll see if anything comes out of this and be happy to follow up with my results. The link below states that "rove beetles" prey on adult flat worms???
