Bug needs identity

Wondering if anyone can help me identify this bug - and let me know how to get rid of it!

It's dark brown, almost black. Has what looks to be 8 legs and little antenae. It's about a 1/4 inch long - has a smaller head and a bigger body. It seems to like rice and taco shells. But interestingly, i left a half-full glass of water on the coutner and found a bunch in there, dead, the next morning.
