Little Red Worm in Sheets

I just found a little red worm in my bed, slithering on my sheets. My husband found one about a month ago. We have only found 2. We are in a brand new apartment, with a brand new bed & carpeting, etc. The worm was very small, skinny, red with a darker red "head". When I smooshed the worm, it looked like blood or something. I was too grossed out to measure it or anything. What is this??? I cannot sleep now b/c I am freaked out.
