: Hi i've been reading thru a lot of post on bed bugs and i'm becoming very discouraged. For the last 6 months i have been fighting these bugs (and who know's how long we had them before i woke up to breast feed my daughter who just came home from the hospital and found the bugs) I Can't get rid of them. We have sweeped, washed, vaccumed, sprayed and spent hundreds of dollars (that we don't have) and they just keep comming stronger and stronger. They are in both bedrooms, the bathroom, and the living room (My husband often sleeps on the couch or recliner) I'm in an apartment and am trying to get out of the apartment (availble places are scarce in my area) But i need to know how to move and not move them and how to deal with them until i am able to move. My landlord is no help at all.
: I haven't been finding concrete facts on Heat/cold. What degree (f please) do they need to get to die and for how long. If i throw my pillows in a hot dryer for an hour will that kill them? If i turn my heat off for a week will that kill them? I really need help.

Hi Crystal,
Sorry to say that it is harder than you'd think to get rid of them. If I were you, I'd pay for an exterminator who comes with a guarantee in writing. It's extremely difficult to get rid of them on your own. Please read my 'I got rid of bed bugs myself' thread. Washing your pillows works, but only until the bugs climb back up onto it from wherever they are harboring. Ours were in several places. Unless you put all of your apartment/house (including the walls and floors) and all of your furniture, and all of your belongings into a hot washer than dryer, you aren't going to get very far. After I threw out my bed, I was still getting bitten. Please see all of my posts that were in early to late January, which is when I finally conquered them.
