WEIRD BUG ON PURSE

Okay, I live in a bedbug-infested apartment that I am preparing to move out of after 7 months of repeatedly trying to get rid of the problem.
I was cleaning out one of my closets, and I have a big paper bag full of purses. I was inspecting them individually for any trace of bedbugs, and while I didn't find any, I noticed that something was moving on one of the purses. It was a small orange colored thing, about 1/4" long, and it looked like a tiny worm or some sort of larvae. It was crawling along the seam of a purse & wiggled away fast when I touched it.

This definitely was an insect I have never seen before. I don't have any photos, but does anyone have an idea as to what it could be? It just looked like a tiny crawling orange worm.
